Artist
I’m a Michigan based artist inspired by travel, color, light, texture, and the beauty I notice in everyday life. I paint florals, landscapes, still lifes, water, and scenes from my travels. My style blends realism and impressionism, with vibrant color, visible brushstrokes, soft edges, and texture. I want my work to capture the feeling of a place or moment rather than copy a photograph exactly, and hopefully bring that same feeling of beauty and happiness to others.

Deb is a fantastic artist. I bought her painting and it brings my wife and I great joy to look at it. Numerous guests have commented on it as well. I will certainly buy more paintings from her.

Studying Miss Montgomery’s paintings are awesome inspiring. One can feel the life source applied and coming through interpretation of her subject matter. I wager as her career continues, Debbie will be exhibiting in galleries all around the world. P.S. I studied at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Journal
My process changes, depending on the painting. Sometimes I work more traditionally in oils, using an under painting or an alla prima approach, and other times I begin with an acrylic underpainting before moving into oils. I’ve learned different techniques from the teachers I’ve studied with, and I enjoy choosing the approach that feels right for each piece. Over time, I’ve also learned that good quality paints and brushes really do make a difference in the way the paint mixes and responds on the canvas.
